Career Opportunities

Did you know that the Detroit Section has a Career Services Committee? One no longer needs to contact ACS headquarters for career assistance. Regardless of your degree or experience, managing your career has never been more important. The Committee Chair is Megan Klein. She can be reached at klein_megan@hotmail.com. Thinking of changing jobs or hiring a new chemist? One of the Committee's goals is to form and maintain lists of potential employees and employers who are looking for new employees. Contact the Committee for help. Better yet, volunteer to help other Section members to realize full potential.

Don't let your resume or references lapse. One should always be concerned with managing one's career. The successful position seeker uses a resume much differently today than in the past. The Committee can point you to resources which will help you stay current. Are you an older chemist thinking about changing positions? A recently attended seminar was packed full of ideas and suggestions that you might find of use.

Contact .Megan Klein, Detroit Local Section Career Services Coordinator,

Thanks to Kurt Reimann's dedication, the Section has benefitted from a list of the area's employer's of chemists. With  all of the recent changes in area codes, company consolidations, etc., the employer's list has become dated. Volunteers are needed to assist in updating and expanding this valuable job search tool. Please contact me if you would like to help with this project (small and large tasks available).

A good place for an ACS member to start hunting for a position is at the ACS website    When you get there, look for the Build Your Career section. To get to the member's only part (Chem Jobs) you'll need your ACS ID card to get your member ID number  in order to log on.
You'll find employers looking for employees and prospective employees looking for employers.
You can fill out a resume' form to post on the site, look at what's available and more.

What if you're not an ACS member and you want to be? Look at the Programs & Services/join
of the ACS website.
