Welcome to the web site for Detroit Area Chemists. Although many chemical based groups have been born  in southeast Michigan over the years, few have survived. Two that have survived are the Association of Analytical Chemists, aka the Anachem, and the Detroit Section of the American Chemical Society. The number of chemists in the Metropolitan Detroit area has been estimated to be around 4000.  The membership of the Detroit Section is approximately 1650 (and includes Canadian members which makes the group international) and that of Anachem about 250. Approximately half of the Anachem members are also Detroit Section members.  The combined membership of these two non-profit groups make up almost half of the chemists in the area. Also, each group has members of the other group on their respective Boards of Directors and hold joint monthly scientific and informational meetings The degree of mutual interconnectivity of the two groups makes this combined site both desirable and feasible as well as convenient. If you would perfer to go directly to the Detroit Section site after clicking on the desired logo and reaching the preferred site first page, simply bookmark that page. Likewise for the Anachem first page
